Luke is an incredible individual who brings with him a wide diversity of experience and expertise. Luke received his PhD from Virginia Tech where he conducted ground breaking research analyzing ways to reduce prejudice in our public schools. has served as an administrator at an innovative new school that he helped open. Throughout his career he has served as a graduate level professor, a middle and high school teacher, a behavioral consultant, a head collegiate men’s basketball coach a university vice president, and a regional principal for the Virginia Department of Corrections. In that role he ensured that high quality academic, college and vocational education was being provided. Luke cares deeply about students that enroll at EMU and makes it his personal mission to make each student feel welcome on campus and achieve success in and out of the classroom. Luke is married to Staci Hartman and they live in Harrisonburg with their three daughters.
